audio device

my computer does not have sound, went into control panel,sounds and it says
there is no audio device! need help! any suggestions appreciated. i have
windows xp

I have experienced the same problem! It happened suddenly. My OS is XP.
Any help from anyone?

Dear All,

It happens to me :-( and I don't know why. I have read that many times the
service "Windows Audio" does not start correctly, so you need to restart it,
I did it but it is not the solution for my case. And also, many people fixed
editing the file "machine.inf" (deleting the line 20) and loading again when
you install new hardware manually. I did it, but it does not work.

Any suggestion ?
