Audigy ieee 1394 not recognising camera

I have a brand new canon ZR-80 camera that when connected to a SB Audigy ZS firewire port, is not recognised. Device Manager shows that the IEEE 1394 bus controller is functioning properly, however any video software states that no digital camcorder is attached to the system. Given that Windows XP doesn't necessarily state when a camera is attached (the system appears to detect the camera being powered on as the mouse pointer does a quick animation). I've tried two Firewire cables (they are 4-pin to 6-pin), but same story

I've checked BIOS for any disabled settings, but everything is fine

Any ideas??

Are you sure that it is compatable? From what I remeber creative decided it would be a good idea to use a slighlty different specification of firewire than the standard.
