If you use NAV 2006 and are having trouble using "Live Update", getting Error
LU 1847, update list corrupted, the problem is not on your computer. It's at
Symantec. They tell me "They're working on it".

If the problem is not on your computer, and Symantec tells you they're
working on it, what do you suppose anyone here can do for you?

Milt,

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm using 2006. If I encounter the problem, I
won't be concerned because I'll know that it's something at Symantec and a
fix is on the way. Thanks for letting us know.

Tom [Pepper],

I wrote the info. to save people the trouble of wasting their time finding
out for themselves. And, by the way, I just looked at your last 85 responses.
You know what? There's not a word of assistance to anyone in any of them.

Thank you Milt. I too was told that by Symantec AND Symantec's site
walked me through updating the Virus Definition files using the
Intelligent Updater function. Said check back in 48 hours and all
should be right with Live Update.

I'm sure your Post was appreciated by most.

Milt,

Thanks again for the post. I encountered the error last night after reading
your post, so I knew that everything would be fixed. Sure enough, I didn't
fret over it and everything ran fine this morning. I probably would have
lost sleep if it hadn't been for the information you provided. Thanks again
for letting us know.

NAV2006..? They was called sorting it out with NIS2005..!!

http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,65744,tk,dn101101X,00.as
heres a little snippet-
LiveUpdate, the software used by Symantec's antivirus software t
automatically update virus protections when updates become available
has flaws in both the 1.4 and 1.6 versions that allow for the attacks
Phenoelit says. When LiveUpdate 1.4 looks for updates, it attempts t
connect to a specific server at Symantec, the group said. Tha
connection, however, can be hijacked using a number of Domain Nam
Server attacks and rerouted to the server of the attacker's choice

Thanks to Overclocked here's another one to look at -

http://isc.sans.org/diary.php?storyid=72

This only leaves one asking, "How secure is NIS2005"?
used NIS2005 and had several problems, and ended up reformatting ..
not even SymtNRT would not remove the corrupt files

For full post see this link-:
http://www.howtofixcomputers.com/bb/ftopic128440.html I ditched i
after 8 Months and never had a problem since
