Hi,

Sorry about not giving you enough info in the reply! I'm running XP pro, with SP1 and all the security updates except SP2 (don't get me started!). Anyways, my pc won't shut down. Goes through all the motions, but then starts right back up. No error messages (I can see) and I don't have Roxio loaded.

You told me to visit http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q320299 -

and http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q311806 -

but I already have, and done it all, but it's still not shutting down properly. I've had a further poke around the MSN site, but haven't found anything really that suits my problem.

I've loaded all drivers on my pc (except my 56k modem as I don't have the disc and I'm not sure what make it is :-( I've had this problem before, but it sorted itself out before. This time, no such luck. Anyone that can help, I'd be very greatful.

Thanks!

I really wish you'd kept to the original thread. I only vaguely remember
the issue and I can't remember if you said you had scanned for viruses
and malware. So, if you haven't done that - do so.

Other than that, try a clean boot so that nothing extraneous is running.
See if the issue continues. Check in Event Viewer (in the Control Panel
Administrative Tools applet) on the off-chance there is a clue.

Clean Boot in Windows XP

Post back if you need help in scanning for malware.
