Several weeks ago I noted a problem of inserting pictures into a
Windows 7 Outlook 2003 or 2007 email. The problem was that instead of
displaying a set of thumbnails for the selected picture folder,
Outlook displayed an identical generic icon for each jpg.

You couldn’t account for this behavior. I just stumbled across the
cause, and the very simple cure.

The problem was caused by a default setting of Windows Explorer. To
cure the problem, in Windows Explorer, click Tools | Folder Options |
View, then uncheck the third box from the top “Display file icon on
thumbnails” Then click “Apply to all folders

Thanks for letting us know the cause - its one of those things you don't
think about unless you've used that setting before so I don't think I would
have suggested that as the cause.
