attachments in windows mail

Has anyone else had a problem opening file attachments in Windows mail?
Everything worked fine until today. I installed the latest patch yesterday
which may be the cause.
 
Did you make sure that "Do Not Allow Attachments" in Options, on the
security tab is UNchecked?

That's the first thing I checked. It must be a transient bug because
everything works fine this morning.
