Attachments from aol and yahoo accounts there but not there

I tried with all firewalls/security turned off.

Starting about 3 weeks ago, I am no longer able to see or open
attachments or forwarded messages from e-mail from yahoo and aol
accounts. I have changed nothing in my setups. These are e-mails from
long time accounts I always get e-mail from. They are all on "safe"
lists. No settings I set in Outlook block any attachments. Mostly
attachments are Excel files or forwarded e-mails. Using Outlook 2003,
Windows XP Pro. The funny thing is, the e-mails show up with the
attachment icon showing. I can click where the attachment is normally
found but I get an error message that "operation failed." Further
funny thing, I can somehow get the attachments to show up. I can't say
why it happens. I have tried rapidly clicking between messages and it
worked, but not always. The attachmnets from old messages are also
disappeared. I can see in the header the e-mail message is supposed to
have an attachment.

Any ideas why this disappearing trick is happeneing and how I can fix
it?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem and I figured out how to work around it, but I
haven't figured out why it happens. Try this:

Click Edit, then Edit Message.
Then go up to Format and pick Plain Text.

Now do they show up? This allowed me to see them, but obviously doesn't
solve the problem.

Tried it, but it didn't work for me. I also discovered an error
message when, on a new message, I click the open book icon next to
"To:". I think I will try to reinstall Outlook to see if that works.
Maybe something got corrupted.
