Attachments are blank in forwarded messages-MSN mail

My friend has a problem in windows XP. She is using MSN, I assume its
Hotmail. She has a Dell computer, only 6 months old. Whenever she forwards a
message with an attachment, the person receiving the message gets an
attachment called file.txt but it is zero bytes. The text part of the
message comes through OK , but the photo or other attachment is blank. Any
suggestions?
