Attachment deletion, but not what you think

Occasionally I am prone to deleting Windows temp files. Today when saving
Outlook 2003 attachments (File/save all attachments) I noticed that it
saved to a windows temp folder.

I suddenly thought, *&^%^$))!!, if I have been previously saving to this
location then when I deleted all those templ files (or even folders) in a
cleanup operation then have I lost all my attachments?

The default location for Outlook's temp folder is
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLKxxx (where "xxx"
can vary). Emptying your Temporary Internet Files does not affect that
folder.

Even if you were to delete that folder, though, your attachments should
still be part of the original messages, even if you did save them, unless
you deliberately deleted them from the messages.

Thanks. I occasionally search for anything with "temp" in it and delete
all.

Windows Explorer won't let you see that folder unless you name it
explicitly. A search won't find it, even if you enable hidden and system
files.
