Attaching Dynamic Web Template

I just started using FrontPage 2003. I was intrigued by Dynamic Web
Templates. I created a few template (complete with editable regions). But
when I try to link any pages to them, I can't! The help says to go to
Format-> Dynamic Web Template -> Attach Web Template. But that option is
always disabled (grayed-out) for me. I can base a new page on the template,
but I want to actually have it "attached" so that if I change the template,
the attached page will reflect the changes (I think that is the way it
works?).

Anyone know of how to get the Dynamic Web Template options to become
enabled? All that is available now is "Manage Editable Regions," which is
strange since I thought that only pertained to DWT's themselves.

TIA!

1. Must have a web open.
2. The web must be a disk-based web or hosted under Window 2003 WSS
3. Will not autoupdate any pages when using under the FP extensions.

It sounds like you are actually selecting the Dynamic Web Template page
rather than the page you want to attach it to, if that makes sense.

So, if you have a page (call it foo.htm) that has some content on it, and
you have a page (call it bar.dwt) that has the content you want to share and
update and has an editable region, then what you want to do is select
foo.htm and click on Format > DWT > Attach web template and then select
bar.dwt.

You can also just drag bar.dwt from the folder list onto foo.htm and instead
of making a hyperlink, FrontPage will prompt you to attach it.

Thanks, guys. With the help of a friend, I found the problem. I had to open
a site first. Just editing raw pages, you can't use the DWT's the way the
help describes them (you'd think they'd mention that in the help!). Anyway,
after opening the site and working with pages from within the "site," it
operated as expected.

Thanks!

You can apply a DWT to pages in a server based FP SE web,
But, at present, you can not automatically update changes made in the DWT page to the pages using the DWT under the FP SE unless you
open each page separately
