Athlon 64FX support

K

Kevin Senecal

Hopefully a Microsoft employee sees this. When will
Windows XP support the x86-64 bit processors??? I'm
thinking of upgrading to the AMD Athlon 64FX, but I want
to be able to take full advantage of the processor with a
64 bit OS. I'm not into Linux or other OS'es.

Thanks
Kevin

Microsoft employees won't see it here, there's nobody here but us
users.

MS is working on a 64-bit XP for Athlon. I don't know when they hope
to have it for sale.

Greetings

This is for Intel chips only. Windows XP 64Bit for the AMD will be out mid
2004.

AMD have their chips on sale and all the other manufactuers are releasing
their 64bit hardware too.

I think MS are going to be put under too much pressure to leave it another
9months before they release an operating system for it.

(why are my messages getting deleted?)

There is a Windows XP 64 bit edition.

There is no support for the Athlon. It is scheduled to be released
mid 2004. There is no public release of XP 64 to the public. :)

Why are you deleting my posts?

I am not doing anything wrong. At least have the decentcy to tell me what
the problem is.

At the present you can use 32 bit XP with them. There is a 64 bit
version to go with the AMD 64 bit code in beta test at present - no date
yet announced for it, but guess in the first half of 2004
