Hi have a Asus ato 9600xt 128mb.

Tried lots of different driver but my pc keeps crashing with this card.
Mostly when I open lots of programn like word+outlook at the same time. And
scrolling in a document is almost a guarantee for a vcrash my screen just
switches off or the computer reboots. First i tought compatibility problem
with some other hardware. bu tried running the pc with only the videocard
in same problem. Starting to get desperate.

Could it maybe be caused by insufficent power supply did had 3-4 fans to my
pc,

Any idea what maybe causing this.

I've got exactly the same problem whenever I attempt an upgrade of the
Catalyst Drivers. My video card is an ASUS Radeon 9600XT on an ABIT
KV8-MAX3 board with an Athlon 64 2800+ and I've found just one release
of the drivers at the moment that seem to be stable on my system.

I'm running ATI driver version 6.14.10.6467 (according to WinMSD) and
checking ATI's website that driver version relates to the CAT 4.9 driver
release. System is running on Windows XP Professional and this issue
occurred both before an after installation of XP Service Pack 2.

I have a ghost image of the PC with the working drivers which I use to
put everything back to normal if a newer catalyst release hoses the system.

So far have tried, 4.10, 4.11 and latest omega release all of which
produce the same fault of blanking the screen within 30 seconds of
logging in then rebooting or corrupting the screen, then blue screening
and rebooting.

What I suggest is that you download the CAT 4.9 release of the RADEON
driver and the control panel as separate downloads. Then try installing
both the driver and the control panel application on a fresh install of
XP to see if it's stable. Verify that this works before attempting to
fix your existing Windows XP installation.

Apologies if I've replied to this twice now, I've replied once already
and when I hit send, the message disappeared with no update on newsgroup.

I had (still have) this same problem. The only Catalyst Release I've
been able to use at the moment is Cat 4.9 release. Attempting to
upgrade to any other release (including Omega drivers) results in the
behaviour described by the OP.

I have an Antec TruePower power supply in my box (which is an Antec
Sonata case) and I'm confident that lack of power isn't the problem
here. I also run Mandrake linux and have a copy of Windows XP64 Beta
installed, no problems with either of those OS's. This really does seem
to be specific to XP and the Catalyst drivers.

What I suggest, assuming that you have the space, is to install a new
copy of XP on a different partition. Download the ATI Catalyst 4.9
Driver and the Catalyst Control Panel application. Boot up the new copy
of XP and install the driver, do not reboot and immediately install the
control panel application. Now reboot and see how the system performs.
If it's stable on the temporary XP installation, try installing the
4.9 drivers onto your permanent XP installation and test that.

Hi, same card here on intel based board (p4p800e-dx). Catalyst 4.12b
