command & conquer) the reply from Asus did not help at all.

What does the Live have to do with it?

Do you just want to make sure that the onboard nVidia sound is "Sound
Blaster Pro" compatible in DOS?

If you have a legacy card like SB, take care to enable the legacy option.
It has nothing to do with your MoBo. It's your installation and your OS.
