ASP.NET user account

This user account was created by installing the .net framework. It should be
left alone from what I gather. To get your auto-logon back:
Start, run, type in: control userpasswords2, hit enter.

Uncheck: users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

Xp will then ask you to enter the user and password you want to auto-logon
to.

Or

Download and install tweakui for xp and use its auto-logon feature.

Hi everyone,

I am the sole user of my computer. Last night I installed 9 updates to
Windows XP and one of them seemed to create a new user account called,
"ASP.NET MACHINE" and indicates that it's a limited account that is password
protected. Funny thing is that it doesn't show up on the "log on" screen,
but I only see it when I select "user accounts" from the Control Panel. My
computer USED to boot up and automatically and log me in to my desktop.
Now, however, when I boot up, or when I come back from the screensaver, I am
at the log in page and asked to choose a user. (I am still the only one
listed). What is this user account? Can I delete it? Can I set my
computer back up to automatically log me in? Thanks for any info.

Hi Paul,

Solution 1:
Click Start, Run and type "control userpasswords2", and click Ok.
Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
option, and click Ok.

Solution 2:
If you have one user account and no password configured, Windows XP will log
you in automatically. Otherwise, you'll have to do the following:
Obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI.

Download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP).
Expand the Logon branch, and click Autologon.
Turn on the Log on automatically at system startup option, type your
username and password, and click Ok.

to click on my name, because pc goes to the logon screen.. I don't like
this at all.
Is this what the net framework did?

help me make it NOT do that

That sounds like the screen saver setting. Right click desktop, properties,
screen saver tab, uncheck the option that reads either: on resume password
protect or something like on resume use welcome screen.

Thank you!! that did it!
