ASP.net account

I upgraded my Maxtor external harddrive and my Dantz Retrospect software and
now when I reboot, my owner's
account comes up instead of just going directly to Windows.

I checked User accounts and a new account called "ASP.net" account has been
created. Any idea what that is? Can I safely delete it? Thanks ...

Hi Michael,
I upgraded my Maxtor external harddrive and my Dantz Retrospect software
and
now when I reboot, my owner's
account comes up instead of just going directly to Windows.

Click start/run, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and
click ok. Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok
and follow the prompts to set up a default logon.
I checked User accounts and a new account called "ASP.net" account has
been
created. Any idea what that is? Can I safely delete it? Thanks ...

It's because you installed the .net framework, it creates this account which
you can safely remove. The existence of this new account is also why you
were stopping at the logon screen during startup.

Yes you can delete the account in user accounts, you can elect to keep
the files or delete them. I kept them, dunno why, but log-on came back
to normal.

If you've installed .NET Framework 1.1 SP1, then the ASP ghost account no
longer has any impact whatsoever on anyone's ability to logon. You'll breeze
through the Welcome screen like you did before the original .NET Framework v
1.1 install.
