Hi all
Thanks a lot

I have windows workstation with windows xp, which has users with only user
privilege. In most of the workstations all external pen drives works properly
and it shows on my computer but in one computer only those pen drive works,
which has detected with users, which has administrative privilege. If I tried
to use new pen drive which has not previously used with user which has
administrative privilege then it does not works with user which has user
rights. It asks for administrative users name and password. Please help me to
rectify this problem.

Thanks & Regards

It sounds as though the workstation has a utility loaded that controls
peripheral access. It sounds as though it is set to allow access to
administrators only. In which case only an administrator can solve your
problem by granting access.

Hi Holz,

Thanks for answer. There is not any conflict on disk management. one thing
when i log on with administrator and try to use pen drive it works and after
then it still works with user which has only user rights but now if i user
another new pen drive which is not used previously then it ask administrator
user name and password. If i provide administrative user name and password
then it starts working any user which has user rights. but i want to use any
pen drive without asking administrative previliage. my operatign system is
windows xp pro

thanks

Please help me.

I believe that mounting a pen drive requires an admin rights, or setting
up each user separately.
Are you on a domain? workgroup? Group policies running?

Yea, all the workstations are on domain

Try this
Add the user to the local administrator group and log him on. Once his pen
drive works log him off and remove him for the admin group, log him back
on and see if it works. If not, try to give him rights to the usbstore
service key, and come back here tell us what is up and is not.
