Well, it took them 5 years to build an Alpha and release it as a finished
product...
BETA 1 in 2008 isn't far off that schedule.

Service Pack 1 is a roll up of all Vista updates since release. It will not
add new features necessarily. Updates are appearing as and when they are
ready that are fixing some of the issues in Vista. The need for service
packs is greater where a user is installing the OS a year or so after
initial release.

False, there will be a lot of changes under the hood:

Supposedly, it will fix the slow file transfer bug and other bugs.

Hi
sp1 for vista sometime in 2008??? come on microsoft

I thought it was due later this year... Has there been any official
confirmation?

.... updates have ALREADY been released for that. If you were actually
running Vista instead of whining from the touch line, you would be aware of
the fact..

The changes under the hood are being sent out as updates continually.

if that is what sp1 will be then vista is really doomed...

forever.. RIP

If you would read the article, you would apologize to me. It states, in
part:

"Windows Vista SP1 will address many of the performance and reliability
issues that some Vista customers have complained about. Microsoft claims
that SP1 will speed up copying and extracting files, make PCs return
more quickly from Hibernate and Resume modes, and improve laptop battery
life by reducing CPU utilization. In addition, the company said that SP1
will fix problems that Windows Vista has encountered with newer graphics
cards, improve networking and improve reliability when a PC enters or
resumes from sleep. Browsing network file shares is expected to consume
less bandwidth and perform more quickly."

One does not have to run Vista to be able to READ and your insult was
totally uncalled for, as usual.

MS plans to release SP1 in the first quarter of 08. Note, the key word,
"plans".

MVPs are very ill informed...im generally speaking here

seldom have I ever seen an MVP here that knows what he is saying..
Even if some do, they have a horrid attitude.. often insulting the
intelligence of the users, and blaming them for the bad quality of their
vista OS.

MVPs are the worse posters.. they claim they are here to help..

but they are doing more harm than good with their vista propaganda.
I think it would be better for them to do something else with their time.
Something that does not involve comptuers.

No, and you will rarely see a specific release date until it is
imminent.
You can often see something more specific on 3rd party sites, but they
are usually just guessing and should be read accordingly.

They "Claim" That's the problem. 1st they have to get hibernate and sleep
working.
And yes, I've been on the phone with them getting updates which never work.
Never had a problem with XP Pro In reguards to a sleep problem.

And before you say my system is outdated, It's not.

Microsoft lied about this OS. And I was a sucker to fall for it. Along with
many others.

and when I say the truth here in order to prevent more tragity, they pound
on me call me a troll etc etc...

I have the real trolls on my back constantly.. like frank.. gesh is he dumb.

You have to expect that. It's a windows newsgroup.

What I've said about the sleep problem is correct. IF Microsoft can't fix
it, No one in here is going to. And yes, It's still not working in the
"Beta" SP-1

Ok, thanks for the info.
