Are identical attachments stored separately?

Hi,

I gather that when I assign an attachment to an attachment field, Access
makes a compressed copy and puts it in one of the hidden tables. Suppose I
assign the same attachment to two different records. Will it make a second
independent copy, or just make a reference to the first?
