Archive Folder password

I accidently closed my Outlook 2003 archive folder. When I tried to reopen it
and get it back to Outlook I was asked for a password which I never set up.
What do I do?

How?

Are you using File>Open>Outlook Data File?

Thanks for your reply.

I'm having trouble with my email server (charter). I get mailbox full
messages when I only have 5 or 10 messages in my inbox. I looked at my
archive folder to see how big it was and I mistakenly hit close and it
disappeared from my personal folders list.
When I went to the archive folder on my computer and tried to open it a
window popped up asking for a password. I never set a password. I tried the
email password but it doesn't work.

That's the mailbox on the Charternet server that is full, NOT the mailbox in
your Outlook, which is local. Have you set Outlook (possibly inadvertently)
to leave a copy of the message on the server and not set a time for
deletion?

Yes, I'm sure that's what I did. And now I can fix that. But how do I get my
archive folder back in Outlook so I can access the email stored there?

In Outlook go to File-Open-Outlook Data File and navigate to where the
archive file is.

Thanks again for your reply. I know how to get to the archive folder from
Outlook. My problem is Outlook asks for a password that I never set up and
don't know what it is. I can't find a way around that. I just need to know
how to defeat the password.

Google for pst password stripper - there are several out there.

This has nothing to do with Outlook, but everything to do with your ISP. I
suspect you leave copies of your messages on the server. If so, you should
consider connecting to your mailbox there with a web browser and deleting
some of the older stuff.

Did you click File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to it, select it, and
click OK, as I asked?
