appointments in Outlook

Every time I "dismiss" an appointment in Outlook, I get the following error
message.

Cannot turn off the reminder, You may be reminded again. Changes made to
the item were lost due to a reconnect with the server.
 
Try opening Outlook with the /cleanreminders switch:

Start > Run > Outlook.exe /cleanreminders
(note the space between Outlook.exe and /cleanreminders)
