"Applying personal Settings"

I have a very random issue. On various different machines at various
different times a clients machine will hang for very long periods of time
when starting thier PC with a message box stating "Applying Personal
Settings". There have been situations where it has hung for up to 10
minutes. There appears to be no rhyme or reason to it. Any ideas? What is it
trying to do, is it trying to apply group policy, or some local settings???

are you using roaming profiles? If so, check the size of
the profile.

I believe the clients are trying to download their profiles from the server.
For some reason they are having trouble. Maybe your network is really
unreliable or just not connected properly.
