Application failed to initialize

I downloaded and installed Defender Beta 2. However, after rebooting and
attempting to run Defender Beta 2, I received an error message that stated
"Application failed to initialize: 080010ba. A problem caused Windows
Defender Service to stop..." Does anyone know what this error means and how
to repair?

What version of windows? Are you up to date on critical updates via windows
update?
