Application Error

I've been getting this error every time my computer shuts down:

The instruction at 0x013f0080 referenced at memory 0xf08001e. The memory
could not be "read"

Other Application errors pop up after I hit okay on this one, but they never
stay up long enough for me to see the numbers. My computer will then just sit
there and say it's saving my settings or shutting down, but it never does.

Any ideas??

It`s hard to identify which application is relaying this error, but the
again you can start

Start>run type eventvwr
it should open up event viewer console

now from here you can and would identify the concern as they are tagged by
"error"
and please be particular on the event ID`s

now from here you have an option to get assistance.

I almost missed it out on the event viewer on the left details pane avail of
such errors on application and System logs list

Heather - Milo probably knows more about fixing this issue than I do, but
let me do some translation of his recommendations:

(sorry--hit send by accident!)

What we need is a cut and paste of the details of error messages that you
may find in the System or Application event logs--to a reply in this set of
messages.

Open event viewer by doing Start, run, eventvwr and hitting enter.

(You can reach the same point by right-clicking My Computer, and choosing
Manage, and clicking on the plus sign to the left of events...)

The logs you want to look at are the System log, and the Application log.

In the right hand windows, scroll back to the approximate time of one of
these errors, and look for error entries, which are easy to spot--they'll
have a red circle with a white X in the left most column.

You can double click on one of these entries to see the details. If you
believe you have found the right entry--one that relates to these errors you
wrote about, click on the little clipboard icon (third down on the right -
under the arrows) to paste the details to the clipboard.

Then compose a reply to one of Milo's messages, and right-click and choose
paste to put those details in the message.
