Application compatibility path kb929427 brakes ACDSee Pro 8

Prior installing the update ACDSee Pro 8 used to work OK under Vista, with
some minor problem but it was usable.
After installing the update, which claims to fix some ACDSee 8 problems
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929427), ACDSee fails to run under Vista
with "The procedure entry point StiCreateInstanceW could not be
located.....".

"Great job" MS :( is that the new way of fixing application compatibility
problems?

Did you uninstall the update? Is ACDsee Pro 8 the XP version running in
Vista or is it a Vista version? Have you asked the program vendor if they
are putting out a Vista version?
