Acrobat 8 Pro Closes Unexpectedly

This is a NEW problem. Acrobat 8 worked fine until last week.

I open 8 Pro, usually to scan a document, and I get a message that tells me
DEP (I think that's what it was, I'm at work and the problem is at home)
closed the application. Nothing I do, going into advanced system properties
and turning it off for all but the "core" applications, makes this program
stay open.

While nowhere near as vital, the same message comes up with SnagIt.

I paid all that money for VISTA to close Acrobat? I think not. Anyone, can
you possibly help? (Vista is Home Premium, already installed on an HP
computer just purchased -- all updates applied.) It also does this on the
OTHER Vista computer. I don't have the scanner hooked up to the XP computer,
so I really need help!

Well... technically Acrobat 8 isn't certified for Vista. Adobe will only do
it for any future versions.
