runas with ACDSee...

I'm having some problems using the runas command with ACDSee v6.0. I'm
trying to run the app as Administrator but upon launch I get an error
message saying ACDInTouch.dll is not found (it does exist and is located
within the Program Files\Common Files folder). The application was
installed under my own account and have just recently tried reinstalling the
application with the Administrator account, but with the same results. Any
thoughts on how to get this working? As a side note, I have done this
before using v4 (and maybe 5) on Win2k. Also, for the record I am running
this on WinXP Pro SP2.

TIA,

Greg

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for the help but unfortunately it does me no good. As mentioned
earlier, the dll in question does already exist.

Thanks,

Greg

Just an idea to see if it affects anything.

Copy the dll to the \windows\system32 folder.

Just curious, what task are you doing with ACDSee V6? I have reverted
back to ACDSee V-3.1 Release 921 because of my disappointment with all
the bloated ad-ons that the newer version have. I bailed out at Version
5 and went back to 3.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for the tip. I actually got it working last night and is basically
an extension of what you suggested. I copied the dll's into the ACDSee main
folder (within Program Files). It turns out it needed all of the dlls that
were in the Common Files folder too. I would guess that copying them into
the system32 folder would work as well.

Thanks,

Greg

As to what am I do with v6....nothing specific at the moment but I would
very much like to take advantage of it's database/cataloging features; that
or find another good databasing/cataloging tool. To be honest I am still
very happy with version 2 (2.41), at least for viewing pictures. v6 seems
pretty unstable for me right now too. And as to why I want to use the "run
as" command with it is because I have set restrictive permissions on my
photos as to minimize the risk of overwriting/modifying/deleting them.
