I am a new user of Windows XP Professional. I very much
prefer the appearance settings "Windows Classic,
Pumpkin". Yet every time I choose it and click Apply ,
double click OK, it lasts about 2 hours and then pops back
to the default setting which I do not like.

HOW DO I MAKE IT ACCEPT MY CHOICE AND STAY ON IT ?
 
after making changes switch to the theme tab and if it
has (modified) in the theme box use save as button to
save this new theme to a file. save the file.
 
Go to services and set the 'Themes' service startup type
to manual. Restart and the XP themes will not come back
again unless you change the startup type.
