aoutofilters are freezing my registers

Several of my registers are affected with the freezing. The auto filters
just freeze and half your work is lost amongst the filters, so you have
to either bring them all back manually by clicking on the left-hand
side numbers or close without saving and lose your work.

Last time it happened i had to do a restore job from back-up and i had
to re-input my work. any ideas? i have also tried to copy it into a
different spreadsheet but it still has the same affect,these
spreadsheets also hold a considerable amount of data entries, over 1500
each, this happens intermitantly,its only a few spreadsheets aswell
that this does it to.
can you think of a possible solution for this? i am using windows 200
pro,

I'm not quite sure what registers are (PCs???).

But sometimes when the number of rows is lots (way more than 1500) and the
worksheet has a lot of calculations, then excel will recalculate (which may look
like locking up) very slowly.

Maybe you could turn calculation to manual before you filter--just as a test.

And it never hurts to empty the windows temp folder (with excel closed), but it
may not help.
