AOL- I can't send emails using the Outlook

My server is AOL and I d’ like to use the Outlook to receive and send emails.
I don’t have any problems with receiving emails but when I compose a message
and click “send†the message goes to the Outbox and not to the Folder IMAP
and a error message appears telling “Your SMTP server has not responded in
60 seconds. Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for the server to
respond?â€

And I say Yes or No and at the end one final message appears informing that
a time-out occurred while communicating with the server Account IMAP. And the
mail that I wrote sits on the Outbox.

I’ve contacted AOL, but they didn’t help me so much. I don’t know what I
can do more….
