AOL 9.0 optimized

Yesterday I upgraded my aol to 9.0 optimized. It had me
close all applications except aol. Afterward, when I
tried to use explorer to get on the internet an aol page
came up. I clicked the explorer icon again and explorer
came up with an extra row of icone. It had an aol icon,
a new search window and yellow pages, maps and shopping
icons. I can't get a straight answer out of aol. have
they hijacked my explorer, is aol emulating explorer? Or
do they have permission from Microsoft to put their icone
and stuff on explorer?

AOL has internally used IE for many years, and has an agreement to keep
doing so for years to come. The agreement allows AOL to customize IE.
