Anyone successfully burned a DVD??

A DVD that will play in a normal DVD Player, that is? I've tried all the suggestions with no result... Just today, read on a Microsoft website (that was linked from this bulletin board) that if I've got a DVD-RAM burner, no movies will play in home DVD Players... Is this true? I've got a Matshita DVD-RAM burner in this machine. Is THAT the problem? Does this mean that no matter WHAT I do, I won't be able to see the movies on the home movie players? Other DVD's burn fine and play on other machines. For some reason, is Microsoft purposefully against compatibility? :):)

Saving to av.dvi format and using the NTSC format to burn the discs.... HELP!

Most standalone DVD players only read DVD-R and DVD+R formats. If you
can only write to DVD-RAM you won't be able to play in a standalone
player, that is true.
