Any way to stop word and PDF documents from opening within IE?

Is there a way to configure IE 6 so that Word and Adobe Acrobat documents
won't open up directly within a browser window? Currently, the applications
launch within the browser window. I'd like both document types to open
directly into Word or Adobe Acrobat themselves.

This is a setting in your Acrobat Reader.

You could right-click on the attachment and either save it on your hard
disk or open in a new window in which case it will still open in browser
but in a new window.
