Anna

hi all,

Is there any cool download manager to replace Fresh Download.

I was using fresh download for long time but recently i have installed the
Newest version and it caused my program not working anymore ..." Cannot
resolve IP address" this is the error i get...

Any cool alternatives?

I have used Leechget, Druid and GetRight (trial) but not happy.

Check out www.pricelessware.org Many are listed. I have tried
FreshDownload, StarDownloader and Download Express. All have problems
handling re-directs. (e.g. It is a REAL pain trying to download files off
sourceforge.net. You will download the link NOT the file).

I understand that DLExpert will handle re-directs but i have not had a
chance to try it.

But I would read the find print carefully before downloading ANY download
manager. Many are spyware. FreshDownload, StarDownloader and DLExpert all
claim on their websites that they do NOT contain any spyware. But the last
time I looked Download Express was silent on the issue (which gives me an
uneasy feeling).

Try DLExpert and let us know what you think....

Once again, the same misunderstanding about Sourceforge. There is no
pain involved in downloading from Sourceforge. You click and click
and click and click WITHOUT HAVING THE DL MANAGER KICK IN, until you
see a nice, fat DIRECT LINK in front of your eyes. No DL Manager has
problems with Sourceforge, because there is NO REDIRECTION going on.

IMO, it will handle them better than Star, but worse than Express.
Still, a very good program.

Not always the experience - certainly if you have not set a preferred
mirror, the supposed download link takes you to a selection page
instead of the file. And Download Express fouls that up unless you opt
out of it by SHIFT-clicking.

I used to use Expert, but became disenchanted with it during the link
integration problems ... never went back to it, but perhaps it's worth
another go.
