I'm looking for a free download manager. I would prefer something that can
download just one file at a time. I used to use flashget, but I think the
new version isn't very good.

I use my own custom built File Fetch 2004 but thats just me.

Note however, File Fetch 2004 is NOT a download manager in the same sense as
GetRight etc etc, it's a very simple file downloader.

The reason I've replied is because your clock is wrong (it's saying you
posted at 06:29 which is impossible since it's only 05:46 and incorrect
since it first showed up at 05:00)

Hi Michael,
FreshDownload from Fresh Devices (do a Google search on Fresh Devices).
Totally Free, no ads etc. but requires registering - I use it and generally
works very well.
Hope it's what you want.

Amos

Although, technically, it is registerware, I use Fresh Download
primarily because all of the others I've tried (except for payware)
eventually wierd-out on my Win98 platform. The "update notices" spam
from FD is not too noxious; I do not know whether one may opt out.
FD is stable, not too clunky, and relatively unintrusive. Its
"click monitoring" is not 100% in Mozilla 1.5 & 1.6 and it's easily
bypassed with a right-click. I'm not sure that FD is starting my
anti-virus app, however, although I am using the same startup directive
as in other d/l managers.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I will try them all out.

You'll find several discussion threads in the google newsgroup archive
-- if you haven't already.

www.pricelessware.org has several suggested download managers. My
favorite, not listed, is Net Transport. Official Net Transport site:
http://www.xi-soft.com/default.htm
but try a major freeware archive site for the download.

As you may have noticed from a prior discussion I think FlashGet was
great (except that I couldn't take the blinking ads in the adware
version), so you may discount my advice. What didn't you like?
