One of my friends got the ESorbig.exe virus in her
computer and she sent me a message to prevent me of this.
I am not sure if I have the virus or not. I run the AVG
antivirus program and it says that I do have a virus
in "Documents and Settings." I run the Norton Virus and
could not detect any viruses. I also bought a trial
version of etrust EZ antiviurs. The end result of
scanning is "Documents and Settup/local setting/temp is
corrupt and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility."
Anyone knows how to run that? Please? When I printed the
report, the program could not scan 47 files. Do you know
why, and how can I scan all filles? Thank you, Georgia

Hi Georgia,

First, you can delete all files in the \temp folder if you wish. They are
not meant to be permanent.

Second, did AVG identify which file was infected? Open AVG from the start
menu (AVG for Windows), on the bottom click on "test results". Select the
line that shows an infection, then click on "write to file" and create a
..log file. E-mail me this file.

Third, to run checkdisk, start/run cmd. From the prompt run:

chkdsk C: /r (assuming C:\ is your system drive)

As the drive is currently in use, the system will not be able to dismount
this partition and run the scan (and it will tell you so), follow the
prompts for it to occur upon a system restart. Reboot when finished.
