Antivirus Message from Microsoft

"A couple of times in the last couple of days, I get a Microsoft Antivirus
2009 Web Scanner" message, telling me that I have trojan horse virus and to
download a program to get rid of it. is this legitimate?

NO IT IS NOT legit. Your computer is already infected. Download Malwarebytes
Anti-spyware. http://www.malwarebytes.com Install update and perform a full
scan. You will not only find the Anti-virus 2009, but much more...
 
Thank you both so much for that post because that is exactly the problem I'm
having on my computer. I'm getting constant pop-ups re an antivirus program,
but I haven't downloaded it...fortunately. What's so strange is that my
McAfee "protection" program indicates that I have no viruses and am fully
protected. Obviously not the case.
