antivirus 2008 XP

SPYDOCTOR is popular and will do a free scan but will charge you to remove
the virus. I had the problem for two weeks. I've read Norton doesn't work and
people are wasting money on other similar products which don't do the job.
Sometimes it's best to look closer to home i.e Microsoft. Try
http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Entry.aspx?Name=Program:Win32/Antivirus2008
for background info and then click on the link for the download options. I
couldn't get Windows defender to install but I tried the WINDOWS MALICIOUS
SOFTWARE REMOVAL TOOL and 'touch-wood' it seems to have helped. I still have
the annoying message on the screensaver but the annoying pop-up has stopped.
Let me know if it helps.

Richard, thank you very much for that link for Malwarebytes.
That is a ripper!
An example: I was out doing a job today in XP
In Safe Mode:
Spybot Search & Destroy: 300 odd, assorted things, could not delete 8
AVG(customers choice): Heaps in that DOS interface it uses now in SM with
AVG 8.0
THEN Malwarebytes: 211 Trojans, Adware, etc (and it ran after Spybot S & D
and AVG)

It's good gear.
Once again, thanks.

It is SPAM
They charge either $1.00 or .50c a minute, depending on how good they are.
Can't you surf the web to another page, lol.

You must be a Pommie, drinking pints!
Nah, you drink plonk.
Cheap and nasty.
And once again, you are wrong; it is spam.

Seing as I use the web interface, you can reply here as much as you like.
I can't be bothered coming back to here, and I don't get notifications of
replies

Read how to use the program.
At the end of the scan, it gives you the option to remove them, lol.
It is very good.
Try reading it.

After more thought, I probably should have known about that
program since it's been mentioned here and in the other vista groups
so often.
I probably was too busy trying to find someone
to be rude to to notice.

I'll have to take everyone's word on this: I've never HAD a virus or
malware infestation in 17+ years online - and I've never had any
protection program find one before it infested - so I don't know from
experience if it's better than others or not.

So? Does this help? Or is it again a message with the subject: "Gee, am I
good!"

Gee, you're good!

I found it out of desperation while trying to clean up the antivirus 2008 XP

I don't know where you went but Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org) is free.
Yes, there is a commercial version but you don't need to buy MBAM to use
it.

As for getting rid of XP Antivirus 2009:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-removal/uninstall-antivirus-2009

These may work for you and all may be well. However, in many cases the
computer will also be infected with Zlob and/or Vundo trojans and protected
by a rootkit. These machines are extremely difficult to clean.

If your machine is one of these cases, either get guided help at one of the
specialty forums below OR back up your data and do a clean install of
Windows. It is your choice. If you are unsure how to back up your data or
how to do a clean install, you can take your machine to a local computer
professional. I don't recommend using BigComputerStore/GeekSquad types of
places.

this sites.

On the contrary, these are both perfectly legitimate and very helpful
sites, and have been hignly recommended by many knowledgeable
technicians for quite some time now.

For your problem, the site true is:

Thank you, JBosco..from Brazil.

The site you recommend, on the other hand, looks rather suspicious, at
first glance.

If you own a computer, you must have antispyware to keep it running at its best. The problem is choosing a scan that works. I have tried many different types of scans in the past and then I ran across Search-and-destroy Antispyware. I have to say that the antispyware solution from Search-and-destroy is the best that I have used to date. It gets the job done and keeps my computer working like new. If you are interested in seeing for yourself just how good this antispyware works you can click on http://www.Search-and-destroy.com/antispyware.html to learn more. I’m sure it would be worth your time to check it out.

When I first got my computer I didn’t realize how important having antispyware was to keeping it running sufficiently. However, it didn’t take very long for it to become perfectly clear. If you don’t have a good scan you will have many problems that could be avoided so easily. Search-and-destroy Antispyware is a great option when it comes to scanning for bugs that will help you keep your computer running at its peak efficiency. The antispyware solution from Search-and-destroy which you will find at http://www.Search-and-destroy.com/antispyware.html will help give your PC the protection it needs to keep it in good working condition.
