Antispyware in but will not scan ????

Have installed the Microsoft Antispware, but the program
is unabwille to perform a Scan???? The program will fire
up just fine, but does nothing after we command it to "Run
Scan Now"....it just sits there. Any help would be
appreciated.

a.. Open up control panel and double-click on add/remove programs.
Select Microsoft AntiSpyware
Select "Change"
On the Microsoft AntiSpyware Maintenance Wizard, click next.
On the next screen (Microsoft AntiSpyware Maintenance Wizard) select Update
Microsoft AntiSpyware and click next.
Select Install
Let the product update.
Click Finish.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunatel it did not work.
Microsoft update is also hosed, (do not know if the 2 are
linked). Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

What happened.

If updating doesn't work, can you uninstall, reboot, logging in as an
administrator, and then reinstall? If this doesn't work do you get any
error messages? See if you can quote them.
