AntiSpyware disabled after re-boot

K

Karl Nelson

WinXP Pro Ver. 2002 SP2:
I have installed, removed, and re-installed AntiSpyware (Beta) 5 or 6 times
now. The same problem keeps occuring:

AntiSpyware works fine until I re-boot. Then, the desktop icon has changed
to the plain vanilla default icon. When I try to launch AntiSpyware, I get
"The item 'GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been
changed or moved, so this shortcut will not work properly."

If I look in C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware, there is nothing there
but the subdirectory "Quarantine" and the file "ShellExtension.dll".

When I remove it in Add/Remove Programs, I get "Error 1905" on about 8 .dll
files.

I have gone through the on-line validation procedure and downloaded the
AntiSpyware installation file several times, each time with the same result.

Anyone have any ideas???
Thanks,
Karl

Try installing it to different location on your hard disk such as c:\msas.

What is the plain vanilla default icon? Also, are you running as an
administrator?

Steve,
By "plain vanilla" I mean the square DOS-window looking icon, not the
round red/yellow/blue MSAS icon. And, yes, I am logged on as Administrator.
Thanks,
Karl
