Everytime i log on to my laptop a windows "security antiadware" pop up
appeares. It takes up the full screen and has no buttons whatsoever to get
rid of it. It is telling me to update something but i have to ring and it
costs £10. Its to do with viewing innapropriate material and my laptop should
be protected from viruses. I am gettting worried about this, please help.

That is in itself spyware/adware. Possible Smitfraud.
I would run a complete system scan with a good spyware scanner.
I use spybot search and destroy, but there are many available.

Hi windjess,

When you next start your computer, bring up the Task Manager using Ctrl,
Shift and Esc. In the applications tab, you should find this application
listed. Right click on it and select 'Go To Process' in the menu that
appears. Make a note of the name that is highlighted. Close the Task Manager.
Next, open the registry editor from the Programs Menu (type regedit into the
search box). Open the keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce. Make
sure that you make a backup of each of these keys by selecting 'File' and
then 'Export' in the sub menu that appears. Give the files a suitable name.
If you make a mistake in the next part, you can then reverse the process by
merging these files into the registry by clicking on them. In the data that
appears, look for the name that you noted earlier. When you see it, right
click on it and select 'Delete'. Close the registry editor. Next, restart
your machine. If all is well, you should no longer have this coming up, but
that doesn't mean that it is no longer on your system. You should manually
scan your system using your malware detection programs. Allow them to fix any
problems that they find. Hopefully, this should eliminate your problem.

My Real Mom And Dad (Not The Fake Ones Who Posts Here All The Time), Just
Recently Had This Problem With Their Computer As Well, I Will Note That They
Were Running The X64 Edition Of Windows XP With Service Pack 2 Applied To
The Computer, DEP Did Not Stop Them From Getting The Spyware, It Was A Mess
To Clean Up, Just FYI. Eventually, They Decided To Start Over From Scratch
With A Clean Install Of Windows XP X64 Edition, Just FYI. I Hope That Your
Problem Does Not Go That Far, Because It Was A Complete Hassle For Me To
Back All Of Their Stuff Up, And Then For Me To Clean Install The Operating
System, And Then For Me To Restore All Of Their Drivers, Programs, And
Files, Just FYI.

Thanks for the advice but i tried it yesterday and i couldnt find something.
It has got worse now because i cant open anything except this (windows site)
the start button wont appear no matter what i do therefore i cant switch it
off. It is really worrying because my mum bought me it for christmas for £550
and i dont want her to have to pay any more because of me. Also i cannot a
toshiba help hotline number to ring.
