Another XP GPO Question

Hello,

I can open and administer GPO's on my Win2k Domain, using my XP workstaion -
no probs. Is there a way to have any existing policy update to include the
new XP features (like disabling XP firewall etc)? I can open all the
existing policies, but would rather be able to update them for my XP
xlients, rather than have a new set of policies to administer. Can this be
done?

Thanks.

Hi Florian,

I've ran through those steps, but still don't see the additional XP options,
could I be missing something?

Hi,

The ADM files must be copied to your Server C:\Winnt\inf folder. Just
manually copy the files from XP C:\Windows\inf to the server and any other
computer that you open Group Policies on. You can download the most recent
ADM's here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...4b-7112-4b6c-ad4a-bbf3802a5c9b&DisplayLang=en

You should now be seeing the new policies on the servers. I update my ADM's
everytime a new OS comes out. Unfortunately Vista uses admx so they won't
read on anything but a Vista box.

Cheers,
Lara

Hi,

No they don´t. It doesn´t mater, where they are stored, they can be
imported from any place you want.
But, if you like to have an automatic update, just by opening
the GPEditor, they have to reside in the local \inf folder.
(if you don´t have deactivated the automatic update with a policy ;-)

Hi, I'm confused:)

I use an XP machine to open the policies, but they do not get updated, am I
doing something wrong?
