another fat32 to ntfs

jim

went to aumha.org and did as directed with bootit NG.
did defrag and all went well.
then went to convert and below is what I got:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\jim's>vol c:

Volume in drive C has no label.

Volume Serial Number is 14BC-657b

(I changed the vsn for this post)

C:\Documents and Settings\jim's>convert c: /fs:ntfs

The type of the file system is FAT32.

Convert cannot run because the volume is in use by another

process. Convert may run if this volume is dismounted first.

ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.

Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N)

so I said no and backed out.

went to msconfig had all av/firewall/ect shut downed

any suggestions as to what to do??

What you're seeing is normal.
When asked if you want to dismount the volume, select yes.
After that, you may be asked if you want to schedule the conversion for the
next time you start your PC. Select yes, then restart your PC.

Good luck!

Should that be NOT to `dismount` the bolume and on the next question
to answer `yes` to schedule the conversion for the next boot-up?

I don't think so...
If I remember correctly, it will only ask you to schedule the conversion if
you choose to dismount the volume. By telling the program that you want to
dismount the volume, the conversion process continues - you'll only be asked
to schedule the conversion if you're trying to convert the volume that
contains Windows' system files. If you're not converting that volume, the
conversion should take place immediately after the volume has been
dismounted.

If you choose not to dismount the volume, the conversion program ends.

You should say Y. It will then say sorry it can't - would you like to
set up to do it at next boot? Say Y to that too, and reboot when
convenient for the conversion to be done
