After installing MS 04-11 my home path and home drive "d:\" changes back to the default

My software application need to have D:\ as it's default homepath and home drive inorder for my installation scripts to run

I have a .reg file that creates the homepath and home drive the way I need it. When I install MS 04-11 my homepath reverts back to the default

Why is this happening?

After doing some digging in the Registry I found this..

There is now a Volatile Environment registry key in the Hkey-Current user tree. If you modify these settings they go back to default after you log back in. If you delete the key, it re-creates itself with the default settings

Is there any way around this

Hi

Try this:

1. Open "System" from the Control Panel.

2. Click "Advanced"->"Environment Variables".

3. Under "User variables for <user>",
- if there is no entry for HOMEPATH, create a new one and put in
the path you want.

My environment variables are defined there. After the MS 04-11 my homepath and homedrive seem to be overridden by the new Volital Environment Volatile Environment registry key in Hke-Current User. No matter what, that key always reverts to the default setting when logging in
