Annoying pop-up windows

Marisa

I have Windows Vista Ultimate.
Every time I turn on my computer, little pop up windows tell me to set a
password as a way to activate Parental Controls.
HOWEVER, I do not need Parental Controls - I am the only user of the
computer and I have not activated the Guest Account or created any other user
account.
And I do not want to give a password to myself…
How can I stop these annoying pop up windows from popping up EVERY time I
turn on my computer?

Make sure that none of the Parental Controls are turned on. You may be able
to completely remove the parental controls component through the add/remove
windows components tool.

No, it did not work... Many thanks to Guitardude and Scrooge, but I still
would like some help...

You do as you please, but you advised the OP and I quote:
Where do you find it's the general opinion?
Where do you find it DOES NOT compromise security on a users system?
What do you think UAC is for?

It's a little annoying at times, but it is a great new security feature and
unless you can back up your facts please don't advise other users to
compromise their systems based on your opinions.

Oh, I thought this thread was for helping Marisa fix an issue with Parental
controls. Anyone know how that turned out?
sincerely,

heres another idea. go to control panel and then administrative tools. go to
services and find the entry "Parental Controls". if there is an uninstall
option, do it. if not then make sure it is "disabled". Then run msconfig and
select the services tab and make sure that it isn't set to start anywhere in
there. I hope this helps,

I had this same problem after I made an acct to see how it worked... after I
deleted the user I kept getting that same annoying popup... so I remade the
acct that I tested with before... clicked "turn on Parental Control" but
then turned it back off and clicked ok... then I restarted and went to
"C:\Users\" and deleted the test acct folder associated with the acct I
made... I disabled the Service "Parental Control" in the Admin Tools, and
tada rebooted again and no popup!
