Running strings on GianttAntiSpywareUpdater.exe:

"Because your Microsoft AntiSpyware subscription has expired, needed spyware
definitions could NOT be downloaded and installed. Your definitions should
be updated as soon as possible to prevent spyware infections. Your Microsoft
AntiSpyware Subscription has Expired"

and running strings on gcASNotice.exe

"We hope your trial went well. Unfortunately you are now no longer protected
from the growing dangers of spyware, worms and trojans. Continue to keep
your self protected, purchase the full version today with a full money back
guarantee."

Was Giant commercial before MS got it? Do you think those strings
come from the original Giant product, or from Microsoft? If the
latter, clearly it's going to be payware - unless they change their
mind.
It has been reported that a software update listens on port 2571 until
the software is closed. No doubt the script kiddies will have some fun.

Oh, great, another security hole in a Microsoft "security" product...
Why am I not surprised?

Probably because you're still wearing your tinfoil hat? Why don't you stop
with the conspiracy theories and check things for yourself, instead? I'm
running antispyware right now, and running fport (available at
http://www.foundstone.com ) shows NO ports in use by antispyware.
