Hi everyone,

I having a huge problem. I can't log on to the internet
even though I have cable modem hooked to a router then to
the PC. I realize that my IP address and subnet mask are
showing 0.0.0.0. I don't understand why that would be
happening. I did a full virus scan and got rid of all the
viruses. I also turn off system restore and I also
flushdns. I also deleted everything in the temp folder
and also deleted everything from the temporary internet
folder. When I plug in the CAT5 cable in the back, it
does show that it is plug in. The two computer blink once
and they don't do anything afterwards. I double click on
the two computer icon in the task bar and then click on
support then details. It shows me Physical address, and
for IP address and subnet mask it shows 0.0.0.0. Then for
the DNS server it has this ip address of 206.13.29.12.
Final for Wins Sever it is blank. Can someone help me out
here.

One of 2 things need to happen. You either need to release and renew you IP addres for you cable modem, and make sure your cable modem is providing your router with an IP address that you cable company hosts, make sure it's not 169.254.XXX.XXX or 192.168.XXX.XXX if it's either of those 2 then your not connected to the internet at all.

Second you may just simply need to reboot your router, it may be having a problem handing out IP address. Your router has an internal DHCP server, if this is not working right that another possiable cause. A reboot should clear that up. Unless someone has been playing in the router configuration and disabled DHCP. IF that is the case, you must logon to the router HTTP://IPADDRES OF ROUTER HERE and enable your dhcp server

HT

DRUM ON .. .. .

I already did what you said. That is not it. My router
already works. I tried that CAT 5 connection to another
pc and it work beautifully. For some strange reason this
computer will not pick up DHCP address. I just can't
figure it out. I already have four computers connected to
router. SO i know the DHCP server is working. I just
cannot figure out why it is not picking up the DHCP
address. I check to see if the service is running and it
is.
