animation

Has anything been to allow Outlook 2007 to send and display animated text,
graphics, etc?

Well after looking at some of the recent Q and A's here, I wonder why
Microsoft doesn't create and offer us a downloadable Service Pack for
animation. Seem like some of us, including myself, have a need for it. My
only solution so far has been to use OE for only the animated mail messages.

If MS deliberately dropped animation, why would they offer it as an addon?

Word has never supported animation so they knew the move to word as the
editor would cause complaints from one user segment, but other user segments
have no need or desire for animation in email.

Despite all the advice in writing code or using alternate means, is there a
simple way to get animated gifs to be animated in Outlook 2007? Or even to
save them as animated gifs? The Windows Help fix of actions/view in broswer
doesn't work. When I view the email in a browser the displayd files are
replaced by X's and do not appear, much less animate.

Nope. Outlook 2007 uses the Word engine to render messages and Word cannot
show animated images.
Or even to save them as animated gifs?

They should be animated when you save them.
The Windows Help fix of actions/view in broswer
doesn't work. When I view the email in a browser the displayd files are
replaced by X's and do not appear, much less animate.

Works for me.

If the images aren't present when you use view in browser, something else is
wrong. Start with cleaning the securetemp cache and windows temp internet
files.
See http://www.slipstick.com/problems/redx.asp for clearing the securetemp
folder.
