animation won't restart

I have a presentation that has animation on each screen and transitions that
run it through all 18 screens automatically in Slide show view. I have a
Replay button pointed at the first slide. When you click Replay, it does go
to the first slide, but the animation won't restart - it's just stuck stopped
on the second animation of that slide. Is there a way to ensure that the
animation starts again?

Create a slide before the first slide. Set that slide's transition to
automatically go to the next slide after 0 seconds. Instead of linking to
the first slide, link to this dummy slide. Depending upon how you link to
the other slides, you might have to do this for every slide with
animation. PowerPoint automatically resets animations when you advance
forward to the next slide, but not when you hyperlink to a slide.
