Animation or streaming video crashes computer

S

Sandy

My computer jams every time I go to certain web sites.
One of these sites is:

www.heist.warnerbros.com

The computer does not jam when I go to the web site using
safe mode with networking. However that is not a
satisfactory solution.

I have tried all of the following:

1. Replace Internet Explorer. This was difficult to do
entirely because IE did not appear in the add/remove
programs list. In any event the problem occurs with
netscape as well.

2. Stop all processes that could be interfering (e.g.
antivirus software). I have tried stopping everything
except the services that are used in safe mode. It made
no difference.

3. Follow the suggestions in MS support kb article
154036. Does not make a difference.

I have a feeling that there must be some plugin that IE is
calling for the page that does not work. However, I am
not sure that is the answer and in any event I have been
unable to find and disable the plugin. I also think that
the problem may be with the graphics card or its driver,
or some other graphics component of Windows. I will try
reinstalling the driver.

My computer is a clone running 2000 professional. Memory
is about 323 mb, speed is about 433. I am using IE 6.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

This would likely be a conflict between your networking and your video.
Either
http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html#vdriver
or
http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html#tapisrv
should most likely help out. :\
