Ok, basic question. How do I rotate an animated gif within powerpoint to
make it align with a picture already on the slide? That is, I want a climber
to move up the side of a triangle. I can import it, it will play, but I
can't rotate it! HELP!

Depends on the version of PowerPoint. In PowerPoint 2003 and 2002, select the
GIF and hover the mouse over the green "handle" to rotate it.

I'm running PowerPoint 2000. I'm assuming from your previous comment that I
can't do what I want to with this version?
Are there any other programs that I can do the same thing in and then
reinsert the gif into my presentation?
Thanks

You can't rotate images in PowerPoint 2000. You would need to use animation
software to create what you want. I would recommend Paint Shop Pro and
Animation Shop.
